Escapism, creativity (and romance!)

We just had to tell you about the wonderful comments left on our website recently.

We are used to having some wonderful stories about people staying in The Old Coach House, but Lisa and Scott’s is one of our favourites. It speaks for itself!:

I booked the Old Coach House for my partners birthday last weekend Dec 5th 2015 for a ‘get away from it all’ 2 night break and when we arrived we were not disappointed!! After a hard week at work and a 4 hour journey, the minute we walked in, the burners glowing and the welcoming feeling meant we instantly relaxed. Thank you Mary for the very thoughtful touch of the breakfast hamper and then the fact that when I say everything is there that you may need, I really do mean everything!! Truly a home from home for essentials and when you realise that this is cheaper than a Travelodge stay its just amazing!

To top off our stay my partner very unexpectedly got down on one knee in front of the burner and asked me to marry him, he had intended to do it whilst out to dinner that following night but he felt that being in the Old Coach House couldn’t be beaten by any restaurant.

Please stay here if you want to relax, please stay here if you want the highest of standards of accommodation and please stay here if you want to recommend to your friends as a perfect retreat.

Thank you Mary we had the best time.

Lisa and Scott xx”

Thankyou Lisa and Scott for such a lovely comment – and such a romantic story!

And Patrick, who was staying in the cottage on a creative break, certainly found that it fed his imagination!:

“What an amazing place! I am writing a book and was looking for somewhere quiet and remote to stay. I spent four nights in the cottage, and I couldn’t imagine anywhere better. What makes it outstanding is a combination of: the cottage itself, which with its thick walls and quiet location makes you feel protected and safe while you work, in perfect tranquility; the design internally which represents what I think of as the epitome of modern luxury – everything you need and nothing you don’t; and Mary’s hospitality, lighting the fires before you arrive, providing food for the first night, and generally anticipating your every need, without being at all intrusive. I will be back! Oh, and the book took several steps forward during my stay. Thanks!”

The Old Coach House in Ambleston is a small stone barn conversion in the middle of Pembrokeshire. The village lies near the foot of the Preselis, twenty minutes drive from the amazing stretch of coast path that takes in Newgale beach, Solva, St David’s,  Porthgain, Abercastle, Fishguard and on towards Newport and Cardigan.

We found being in our little stone barn so rejuvenating as a weekend retreat that we decided to relocate to Pembrokeshire permanently. We now live here and have embraced the very different rhythm and pace of life. We count ourselves blessed; it is a serene little place and you may well find yourself indulging in a spot of creative thinking that takes you on a different path…….. happy holidays.

What a little gem!

Is it Summer already? Well very nearly – and we’ve still got the odd days available for short breaks in this wonderful part of the world. We continue to get some great reviews from our lovely guests and yesterday we found a note from Bill and Cindy who have been travelling around the UK and Europe for eight weeks:

“We really enjoyed our stay at the Old Coach House! The coast walks and Tenby were our favourite places.

Your attention to detail in this property is evident. Best equipped kitchen we have had during our eight weeks of travel. We even had some wonderful weather in May!!”.

Our most recent review on Holiday Lettings was this one!:

What a little gem!

“My wife and I had a mini break recently in Pembs and stayed in the Old Coach and it was amazing!! Fantastic accommodation which is beautifully kept and has the perfect combination of modern facilities like the kitchen, bathroom and WiFi, alongside more quaint features such as the wood burning stoves. We loved that there was no TV and it was very peaceful. There was a lovely welcome hamper when we arrived, it was easy to find and in a great spot to explore the beautiful West Wales region. Mary was a pleasure to deal with and we’d definitely stay there again in a flash”.

And last year’s favourite?:

One word: perfection.

In the last couple of years we’ve stayed at many cottages all over the British Isles. Some were ok, some were nice, but The Old Coach House beats them all.
The interior design is tasteful and stunning – as if straight out of a glossy magazine. It makes you feel calm and relaxed as soon as you walk in. You can truly feel that someone has put a lot of effort in making their guests feel at home. And that’s exactly what it feels like: a home away from home. The kitchen is fully and thoughtfully equipped, nothing left to be desired. There is also a well-assorted small bookshelf should you run out of reading material. It’s the little personal touches that makes this cottages so extra special: the welcome hamper, fresh flowers on arrival, a friendly note from the owner.

As I said: perfection.
